Document Description
Cal Water intends to replace the existing water pipe that traverses the I-5 freeway inside the bridge crossing at Atlantic Blvd. The project is to remove and replace the existing cast iron pipe with new standard cement-lined and coated steel pipe. This is a downsize from 20” to 16” piping. The reasoning for this replacement is that the existing pipeline is old, in poor condition, and poses a significant safety risk to vehicular and pedestrian traffic should a failure occur. The purpose of this replacement is to increase reliability of our water system, benefiting the customers in the surrounding area and removing the safety risks associated with the old cast iron pipe.
