Reasons for Exemption
The City of San Diego conducted an environmental review and determined
that the project would qualify to be categorically exempt from CEQA pursuant to Section 15303 (New Construction). Section 15303 allows for the construction of new small structures including accessory structures. Since the project would be converting an existing garage into an ADU In a residential use area and no environmental would occur, the exemption was deemed appropriate. None of the exceptions described in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply.
