The purpose of the project is to provide the infrastructure needed to charge 34 battery electric buses in a manner that reduces greenhouse gases from the utility grid and is resilient. Reasons for Exemption
This project is statutorily exempt per Public Resource Code (PRC) Section 21080.25. As required by PRC 21080.25, this project would construct the infrastructure to charge zero-emission transit buses; the project would be carried out by VTA, which is a public transit agency that is subject to, and in compliance with, the State Air Resources Board’s Innovative Clean Transit regulations (Article 4.3 (commencing with Section 2023) of Chapter 1 of Division 3 of Title 13 of the California Code of Regulations); and the project is located on property owned by a public transit agency.
