Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project is categorically exempt from environmental review pursuant to Section 15303, Class 3 of the California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines (CEQA Guidelines). Class 3 consists of construction and location of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures; installation of small new equipment and facilities in small structures; and the conversion of existing small structures from one use to another where only minor modifications are made in the exterior of the structure. Examples of this include but are not limited to: Restaurants or similar structures not involving the use of significant amounts of hazardous substances, and not exceeding 2,500 square feet in floor area. The project applicant proposes to establish a restaurant in an existing 1,600 square foot commercial space which will not use significant amounts of hazardous substances.
