Document Description
The California Department of Transportation proposes to make repairs to State Route 49 near postmile 25.2 in Nevada County. The purpose of the project is to maintain safe roadway operating conditions, thereby avoiding long-term closure or failure or threat of failure to the transportation system—which could result in the loss or impairment of life, health, and/or property—should the situation go uncorrected. This emergency project is needed as a sinkhole has opened at the roadway’s edge. Caused by a guardrail post puncturing the culvert, the roadway material has been eroded away resulting in the sinkhole. The proposed solution is to repair the damage by lining the existing 24-inch corrugated metal pipe with non-styrene cured-in-place pipe.
