- The Elkus Ranch Compost Bunker would construct compost bunkers to store existing livestock manure and bedding material compost pile at the Elkus Ranch Environmental Education Center. Currently, the compost from bedding and manure is located across from the upper barn and uncovered. The project constructs three compost bunkers made of concrete mansonry block. Each bunker is approximate 19 feet by 19 feet with a maximum height of 11 feet. A bioswale would be installed for treatment of any runoff. The existing compost pile would be relocated into the new compost bunkers.
