Document Description
The City of Clovis proposes to widen approximately 0.5 mile of Nees Avenue from Clovis to Minnewawa Avenues, from a 3-lane arterial to a 4-lane arterial. The proposed Project would construct a new 12-foot outside travel lane on the north side of Nees Avenue, replace failing pavement as needed, and install a Class II bicycle lane and improved sidewalk that will complete pedestrian and bicycle connectivity in the area. The proposed Project will involve earthwork, asphalt concrete paving, and installation of sidewalk, curb, curb returns and ramps, gutters, storm drain inlets, street lighting and retaining walls, and accessible pedestrian signal (APS) modifications to the street signal at Nees and Minnewawa Avenues. Widening Nees Avenue to accommodate an additional west-bound travel lane and install pedestrian and bicycle facilities will increase the safety and security of the transportation system, reduce traffic congestion and vehicle delays, improve service capacity during peak travel times, and provide complete street improvements for all modes of transportation.
