Document Description
San Juan Water District is conducting a one-year 2018 Groundwater Substitution Water Transfer Program. SJWD will pump an additional 2, 175 acre-feet of groundwater from July through September 2018 to substitute for reduced deliveries of surface water. With 8 percent streamflow depletion, up to 2, 001 acre-feet of surface water foregone by SJWD will be made available to Kern County Water Agency (KCWA) and Dudley Ridge Water District during July through September 2018. The Department of Water Resources (DWR) will convey the transfer water to KCWA and DRWD between July 1 and September 30, 2018.

SJWD filed a Petition for Temporary Change with the SWRCH on May 11, 2018, pursuant to Water Code § 1725 et seq. The SWRCB approved the transfer on July 13, 2018. In accordance with Water Code § 1729, temporary changes filed in accordance with Water Code § 1725, et seq, (Temporary Changes) are exempt from the requirements of CEQA. (Pub. Resources Code, § 2100; see also Cal. Code Regs., tit. 14 § 15282, subd. (u).)
