Document Description
The purpose of this project is to maximize the efficiency of the freeway, improve mobility, increase safety, reduce congestion and decrease peak hours of delay. Need for installation of ramp meter to regulate ramp flow on to main line for effective operation. Traffic operations has determined that a ramp meter installation at the Chiles Road on ramp to EB I-80 is needed because PM peak period traffic at the Chiles Road on ramp to EB I-80 includes a large number of queue jumpers. The substantial on ramp volume, coupled with the short merge taper, contribute significantly.
