The District plans to install solar energy panels atop 18 canopies on existing parking lots on the west side of the campus. The installation would require removal of some light poles and ornamental trees within those parking areas. Approx. 770 feet of wiring would be installed in trenches and boorings to connect the arrays to a utility meter in the east-central part of the campus. The capacity of the system would be about 900 kW AC.
No increases in enrollment, capacity or intensity of uses are proposed as part of this project. The project would be installed per Division of the State Architect (DSA) approved design specifications. The project would be executed per appropriate and current District standards, guidelines and construction Best Management Practices (BMPs). The new solar structures would serve as campus improvements, and a such, the beneficiaries of the project include the schools student, faculty, staff and taxpayer/members of the community.
