The proposed regulation will allow treatment of contaminated water, which may have been caused by the release of hazardous waste or substances for a cost of which would be less than $1 million. this will assure a viable and affordable means of providing drinking water that meets all drinking water standards to a public water system serving a small community that may not be otherwise able to readily afford centralized treatment. There would be no expansion, replacement or reconstruction of existing facilities or structures from the proposed regulation. The installation of the POU and/or POE devices would involve the installation of small new equipment, with only minor modifications to the exterior of the structure, or as an accessory structure.
