Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
15301, 15302, 15303, 15306
Reasons for Exemption
The installation of the solar pv panels on the rooftop and/or parking lot is statutorily exempt under 21080.35. The installations are on the roofs of existing buildings. The associated equipment with the solar panels takes up less than 500 sf of ground surface and will be located on the same or immediately adjacent parcel as the solar panels. The installation of the solar panels does not require any of the permits listed in 21080.35(d). The needed minor electrical conveyance work for building meets the categorical exemption under 14 CCR 15302.A The building already contains electrical conveyances that may have to be upgraded or replaced to accommodate the items being installed. This project meets the categorical exemptions under 14 CCR sections 15301, 15303, and 15306. The small new equipment being installed only consists of minor alterations to the existing building, and there is no expansion of use. The electricity generated by the solar panels and stored in the battery will offset on-site use of the inhabitants. Data will then be collected on the operation of the site.
