NOE - Notice of Exemption
This project targets fourth graders and demonstrates to them the need for habitat restoration and environmental stewardship. With hands-on restoration activities students will learn about watershed connections by exploring an upland site and a riparian site along the Sweetwater River.
The project site is along the Sweetwater River unit of the San Diego National Wildlife Refuge in Rancho San Diego/Spring Valley just south of State Highway 94.

Reasons for Exemption
The project is exempt under Section 15304, minor alterations to land, because it will remove invasive species and plant native species and will not remove healthy, mature and scenic trees. The project is also categorically exempt under section 15333 because it involves removal of invasive species and revegetation of disturbed areas that do not exceed 5 acres in size.
