A road culvert crossing at Five Mile Creek was damaged by a storm event and failed. Currently there is a temporary two-lane bridge structure over the creek crossing, provided by the County, to maintain ingress and egress to the approximately 296 residents of the neighborhood beyond the culvert location. The proposed project includes replacing the culvert and associated roadway improvements.
After reviewing the project and its setting, the Environmental Coordinator for the County of Tuolumne has determined that the project is exempt from review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Section 15269 and Section 15301 of the State CEQA Guidelines. Emergency repair and restoration projects are statutorily exempt, as defined in Section 15269 and the repair of Kewin Mill Road, an existing roadway facility, is categorically exempt as defined in Section 15301.
