Document Description
This project involves the removal of hazard trees at two separate locations within the Humboldt-Del Norte CAL FIRE operational unit. Hazard trees have been identified at Trinidad Fire station and Klamath Fire station. The hazard trees threaten public and Cal Fire Employee safety as well as critical infrastructure such as engine bays, barracks, adjacent property, and power lines. This project will last no more than 1-3days at each location.

Reasons for Exemption
This project fits within the descriptions of a Class 1 Categorical Exemption pertaining to maintenance and repairs to existing landscaping and native growth. After completing an environmental impact analysis, the Department has determined this project will have no significant impact on the environment. This determination is based on field assessments, CNDDB searches, and an archaeological assessment completed by a CAL FIRE archaeologist on 3/30/2016. All work to be performed under this exemption is maintenance to existing fire defense facilities to provide for public safety and protection of critical infrastructure.
