Document Description
Since the early 1970s, DRWD has operated and maintained a small (3" pumped discharge) turnout from the California Aqueduct at Milepost 184.02. Certain minor improvements and a turnout agreement are required by DWR for DRWD to obtain a permanent status for the turnout facility. The minor improvements would be accomplished within the DWR right-of-way and within a 8' x 12' footprint at or near the existing turnout facility. The purpose and use of the turnout facility would remain unchanged by these actions.

CEQA Guideline Section 15301(b) provides that a lead agency may determine an activity to be exempt from CEQA for minor alterations to an existing facility and Section 15301(m) provides for an exemption from CEQA for minor alterations to appurtenant structures under the supervision of DWR. This project satisfies both of those criteria for a categorical exemption.
