- A total of 44 critical setback areas have been mapped where stream banks are unstable and expected to naturally fail ove the next 5 to 50 years. Each critical setback area calculation includes an estimate for lateral space necessary to accommodate a 3:1 stream bank slope and a minimum 30-foot native riparian planting area. Estimated lengths of critical setback areas range between a minimum of 147-linear feet and a maximum of 1,200-linear feet along Carneros Creek.
