Document Description
Minimize or stop fatigue cracks in the floor beam webs & the truss section of the Benicia-Martinez Bridge. Also install a dehumidification system inside the anchorages of the Al Zampa Memorial Bridge. The purpose is to preserve the structural integrity of the bridges & extend their service life. Travelers on I-80 & I-680 will benefit.

Reasons for Exemption
Work will only take place in Caltrans' right of way. If work is done during the nesting season, a biologist will do pre-construction bird nest surveys & the contractor will develop a bird exclusion plan. All staging will occur on paved or gravel surfaces. No vegetation will be removed. If any paint is removed, lead-based paint surveys will be used to specify containments systems. Best Management Practices will protect water quality.
