General Plan Land Use Update

The project is to update the 1995 General Plan Land Use Element (Chapter 1) according to the 2003 OPR General Plan Guidelines and more recent updates to state planning and zoning laws. The proposed amendments exclusively focus on the text of the Land Use Element and include: 1) updating the data, information and references with more current sources; 2) incorporating new language for compliance with state laws such as Government Code Section 65302.10 (SB 244 Wolk, 2011, Planning for Disadvantaged Communities); 3) incorporating the 2010 Truckee Tahoe and 2011 Nevada County Airport Land Use Compatibility Plans; 4) incorporating structural and formatting changes; 5) incorporating new policies to identify potential candidates for future Area Plans; 6) revising policies where progress has been made or changes in situation have occurred; 7) incorporating additional policy language promoting broadband technologies and emphasizing healthy communities concepts; 8) incorporating minor corrections and editing to clarify information; and, 9) incorporating minor corrections and editing issues to clarify information, replace acronyms with complete terms, and correct minor grammatical and reference errors.
