Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) serves a population of approximately 660,000 residents, agricultural interests, and industrial needs. EMWD utilizes local groundwater, imported water and recycled water to serve local water demands. Well 55 was developed in 1993. This well will require a permit to appropriate water for continued operations based on Permit 21235 as granted by the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), Division of Water Rights.
The proposed project consists of granting of and permitting by the SWRCB, Division of Water Rights, an Appropriate Water Right at a peak flow rate of 2.9 cubic feet per second for a total of up to 1,649 acre feet per annum to be diverted by way of an existing water extraction will (EMWD Well 55).
This project is for the permitting of existing facilities, with no increase in capacity.
