The project site is located in the Haight Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, and across the street to the east of Golden Gate Park. The site is presently occupied by a vacant grocery store and surface parking lot. The project site is located within the Haight Street Neighborhood Commercial Zoning District (Haight NCD); 40-X and 50-X height and bulk districts divide the site. Land uses in the project vicinity include public (an entrance to Golden Gate lies west of the project site across Stanyan Street), and retail with some residential.

Document Description
The approximately 34,000-square-foot project site is located at 690 Stanyan Street in the northwest portion of the City of San Francisco within the Haight Ashbury neighborhood. The site is located on the northwest corner of the intersection of Haight and Stanyan Streets, at the eastern side of Golden Gate Park. The proposed project would demolish the existing vacant building and remove the surface parking lot and general advertising signs. It would construct a four-story, retail/residential building with a ground-floor specialty supermarket (Whole Foods), 62 residential units on the upper three floors, and a three-level 181-space subterranean garage with 114 parking spaces for supermarket use and 67 parking spaces for residential use, and 47 bicycle spaces.
