Document Description
LGS proposes to rework two gas storage wells in the Kirby Hills Gas Field. The project activities being permitted by the California Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM) are within the scope of the Kirby Hills Natural Gas Storage Facility (IS/MND). The reworks involve using a service rig and ancillary equipment to hydrostatically deactivate each well, then remove the wellhead assembly and tubing string. A casing inspection will be performed, followed by installation of a new tubing on packer assembly. Finally, a series of pressure tests will be performed to ensure well integrity. The Lambie S-2C well will also have its sand-control liner changed. The IS/MND discusses the continual maintenance (rework) of the gas storage facility. The rework of the wells will ensure compliance with revised regulations, Cal. Code Regs., tit. 14, § 1726 et seq., to enhance the safety of underground gas storage (UGS) projects. CalGEM, as the CEQA Responsible Agency, approved permits for LGS to rework 2 wells, listed below, in the Kirby Hills Gas Field in Solano County.
