Document Description
The project will undertake subsurface archaeological testing near the area known as the Rodeo grounds. In order to determine the presence or absence of buried cultural deposits, between five and ten trenches of 30-40 feet in length and 5 feet deep will be dug in various areas within/near the Rodeo Grounds. Trenches may be widened if cultural deposits are discovered. The trenches will be backfilled after the examination is complete.

Reasons for Exemption
No potential for significant impacts to the environment is anticipated. An archaeologist will ensure avoidance of significant impacts to cultural resources. Project will not result in a serious or major disturbance to an environmental resource. The drip zone of native trees shall be avoided and no native tree roots larger than 2" shall be severed. Any trenches deeper than 4' shall be shored and no open trenches shall be left overnight. Additionally, every effort shall be made so as to not block or restrict access to existing residents.
