Document Description
The project is a comprehensive update to Title 18 of the Redding Municipal Code (RMC) as necessary and convenient to implement the Redding General Plan. The General Plan EIR (GPEIR) evaluated the environmental effects and proposed mitigation measures for implementation of the General Plan and was certified on October 3, 2000. The GPEIR was explicitly intended to provide CEQA compliance for Zoning Code amendments to Title 18 of the RMC. Adoption of a new zoning code will bring the City into compliance with State law, requiring consistency between the General Plan and zoning. The code will establish not only basic development parameters, such as minimum lot sizes, building heights and setbacks, parking requirements, sign regulations, and similar development parameters, but will address specific General Plan policies regarding stream corridor buffers, commercial and residential project design and amenities, maintenance of public service levels, annexations and prezoning, and relaxation of nonconforming use provisions.
