A Renoval Acton Workplan (RAW) will implement clean-up procedures at the exisiting Burbank Elementary School site for the immediate excavation, removal, backfill, and off-site disposal of soils contaminated with organo-chlorine pesticides residues (mainly dieldrin). The school will be closed for 5 weeks. During the proposed excavation, no sudents or faculty will be on the poroperty.

This Class 30 action is a minor cleanup action to be taken to prevent, Minimize, stabilize, mitigate, or eliminate the release of threat of release or threat of release of a hazardous waste or substance which is small renoval action costion approximatly $500,000.00. The RAW includes Excavation Plan, Engineering Evaluation/Cost Analysis, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Assurance Program, Transportation Plan, Air Monitoring Program, and Dust Control Program. The project will have a significant effect on the environment because of the relatively small volume, short project duration, and the controled nammer in which contaminated soils will be excavated, loaded onto trucks and taken off-site for disposal/tratment. The Burbank Elementary School site is not on the Hazardous Waste and Substances Sites List or in a sensitive cultural of biological resource area.
